Transformed Life

Can you believe it? We are already a quarter of the way through the Transformed life Campaign. Lives are being changed as we read and reflect upon the Treasures of the Transformed life. Pastor John Ed Mathison, in his personal message to us, reminded us of the power generated by the entire church family engaging together in prayer, presence, gifts and service. I am hearing such powerful testimonies of people being challenged to grow in the things of God.

One of our members who now resides in another state sent an e-mail sharing the impact of his reading. He stated that "loving a person as a Christian allows us to see people not as they are but as they could be." Wow! What a challenge. We are called of God to embrace all of God's people regardless of their differences and to do whatever we can, great or small, to help them reach their personal potential. That's my question for today, what can we do to help others reach their potential in God? This requires praying the absolute best for others, period!

I trust that you are reading your daily chapters, meeting with your small group and joining us each Wednesday for study together. We are on a journey and we are believing God for a dynamic transformation. Let's make it Great! Pastor E.L. Branch

Hello,

I am very excited about Treasures of the Transformed Life. I think it is a great vessel with which our church can grow in ministry and stewardship. A few things have stuck with me so far. The main one is how the book gets me wondering and imagining how great, dynamic, powerful, and impactful TNH could be if EVERYONE gets involved. The book goes on to describe how everyone has a part in the church and when the church is successful in its mission, we ALL get the reward (refer to the story of the runner who made it to the finish line - the author pointed out that the legs did not just get the reward, or the arms, but the WHOLE body).

Another thing that has stuck with me is the issue of prayer and that God wants to be involved in the details of our life. Many of us are guilty of waiting until we encounter big problems before we call on God. Also, I love the comparison the author makes between the relationship we have with our children, etc. and our relationship with God, where the author causes us to ponder how would we feel if our children/spouse/friends only talked to us once a week or once a month. We must admit that we would feel like they did not love us. Well God feels the same way...whew, that is deep!

Okay, on to the question of the day. Pastor asks what can we do to help others reach their potential in God. Well I say that we can encourage each other - even in the smallest task, because that encouragement can lead to confidence, and that confidence can lead one to make a bigger impact in the body of Christ.

I could go on an on and I guess this message is already long enough, so until next time.....

Transformed life...just the words alone are powerful. But, when you embrace the concept of seeing God's people not as they are but as they could be... how wonderful this world would be? If we simply embrace that concept within the Church so many roadblocks to the treasures of life would be removed.

So, to answer Pastor's question "what can we do to help others reach their potential in God" Min. Miller's lesson last night reminded me that what I do in my life, my prayers, my walk with God may be what someone else needs to become a believer or even to believe again. So, I have to ask myself once they believe how do I help them take the next step in reaching their potential in God? Pastor has already given us the answer... the left hand and the right hand.

I have been very blessed by the Treasures of a Transformed Life study that we have taken on as a church family. The overall experience has developed a "what's next" attitude in me.

In an effort to help others reach their potential in God it is important that we model the desire. We too must strive to reach our full potential. We are living in a time whereby people are calling us as Christians to “practice what we preach”. We must also remain prayerful, supportive, and encouraging. It is not enough for us to offer just words......we must offer deed as well.

What can we do to help others reach their potential in God? We can "go the second mile." We are only asked to do so much within the Kingdom of God and we are content to do just that. We should be willing to go over and above what God ask of us. God does not put any limits on us, He just keeps on giving. Just this week it was revealed to me that I had an unresolve issue that I had to deal with. A friend of mind stopped speaking to me about a month ago and I don't know why. This week I had to call her up and apologize for whatever it was. I had to "go the second mile." Sometimes we have to put our personal feeling aside and do what God is telling us to do and that may take some "Transformation." So, get with a small group and read the book. Peace!

What can we do to help others reach their potential in God? Stand in the gap; even if that means constantly encouraging, praying, and loving them. Minister Miller pointed out yesterday that when we stand in the gap and pull Christians back into the body of Christ and continue to pray for them and with them we are changing lives. Not only the lives of others but our lives as well.

We also need to play our part in the body of Christ, we know as Christians we have to lead by example. If we continue to strive for that mark that God has set for us blessings are bound to happen. Others will see how we are blessed and they will want to be apart of those blessings too.

Much love and blessings
See you on Sunday

One of the ways I think we can help others reach their potential in God is to establish accountability relationships. Within these relationships, we can lovingly correct each other when we see our friend is falling short. The operative word here is "lovingly", because often when we offer our advice to others, we do so in a judging or condemning nature. This will require prayer and meditation in God's Word, and a commitment to live the kind of life that models an example for others to follow.

The blessing of being part of a community where you are challenged to see others as they could be...is that you too get the benefit of being seen not as you are but as you could be!

What a phenomena blessing.

As a result of us being a blessing to others and granting them the gift of our seeing them with an heavenly vision is that others return us the same favor. This reciprocal gift of 'grace' is priceless.

Don't we all need this? To be seen as God sees us. Full of potential to be this extraordinary person who changes -- and as a result of being changed becomes an element of change in this earth.

Isn't this the heart of discipleship? Change and transformation.

This challenge causes us to believe in that change even when it is not yet materialized.

Discipleship. One encounter, one relationship, one heavenly vision at a time. The Grace of God. Unmerited. Unearned.

Thanks Pastor for the reminder to see people through God's Eyes...as they could be! Thank God for the blessing of being see not as I am, but as I could be.

Shalom,

What can we do to help others reach their potential in God? I believe that the first challenge is to be intentional about seeing God in each person. Indeed this is a challenge and is no small feat. Particularly as we sometimes fall prey to the mindset of this world. A mindset that suggests that we put ourselves first; a mindset that dictates that we get "ours" and don't concern ourselves too much with others; a mindset that has bought into the whole notion of what beauty is and is not and as a result have subjugated some based on outward appearance; a mindset that depicts some as winners and others as losers. A mindset that ranks people based on "isms": racism, classism, sexism and the like.

If we are not help others reach their potential in God we must do so kneeled at the cross, the great equalizer, where the ground is level. We must do so with buried egos and self aggrandizement notions. Yes it will require that we are careful at every junction lest we ignore potential and risk missing Jesus in a distressing disguise. A challenge? Absolutely! Possible? You better believe it!

After all we are being transformed and true transformation want for others what they themselves have. Am I my brother’s (sister’s) keeper? Someone answered this one day by saying, “we are not only our brother’s keeper; in countless and large and small ways we are our brother’s makers” (Bonare Overstreet). Amen and Lord help us all---

What can we do to help others reach their potential in God? To answer Pastor Branch question;
As believer's we can help others reach their potential in God by encouraging them to pray and read the Word of God daily and not always looking in the natural but focusing on the spiritual things that will encourage their spirit and cause a life changing explosion toward transformation.
