So, what does this mean to you?

Pastor I am concerned about the area surrounding our church. I live in the area and I have notice the increase in illegal activity in the community at night Plymouth, Chicago and Joy has turned into haven for drugs thievies and ladies of the night & they are out there at night, early afternoon and even at 7 the morning. With the devil busy hands and the economy in such a bad state our community is struggling. I know that we are taking ministry to the street buy going to Hart Plaza - I just think that we need to start at home our ministry needs to reach the people on and around our church home. Love your faith member
This scripture is so simple yet so powerful. When Pastor preached from 2 Samuel a couple of Sundays ago it really made me think. I began to think, "have I been giving God things which cost me nothing?" If you are wondering what are things that cost you nothing.. a $5 offering when you have $50 in your pocket, Helping in Children's church only when your child is there, having the gift to sing but won't show up at choir rehearsal because you say you don't have the time. I will not offer to GOD that which cost me nothing. It's sacrificial giving, that's what it means to me
In response to Anonymous (7-29-08, 1:08PM)regarding the area surrounding our church, there is illegal activity, EVERYWHERE. The economy is in a bad state, EVERYWHERE, a lot of people are struggling, EVERYWHERE and the devil is busy ALL THE TIME! But God is busier!!!! Pastor taking ministry to the street by ministering in Hart Plaza has been a blessing. Five members in my workplace have accepted Christ(2 of them joined TNH) because of his messages the past 4 years. One of the reasons for the building of the community center is to enable us to meet the needs of those in our community at a higher level. We have evangelized in the area surrounding our church, we feed those who are hungry around our church, and ministered to those around our church, even the liquor store which sits right next door. Do we always do what we can to make them feel that it is okay and they are welcome to come through the doors of Third New Hope? No we don't!!! Because we pass judgment. Sylvia, the young woman who hangs out around our church recently said something very thought-provoking to me one morning, She spoke to me,I spoke back and asked how she was, she told me I was one of the few people that speak to her, the rest keep walking into the church about to praise the Lord and can't even say good morning. Most of the time she may or may not ask for money, but who are we to judge? We do indeed need to reach the people in our community, and it may start with something as simple as saying good morning and remembering that if it were not for the Grace of God, we could be one of those people in the area surrounding our church.
This is a thought provoking scripture, an that is the very case here. when I think who GOD is I must take thought in who I am. so when I do this. what I offer GOD is all I Have, I thought about it, prayed over it then moved on it. Nothing I give no thought to, no time in it, half do it and etc. This is no costto me . GOD gave his only SON, GOD gave his best an when I really understood that what I offer GOD comes from my heart!!! Time, Prayer,First fruits (Tithes) Love.HE the LORD gave me every thing I will not offer him Just anything!!!
